Sheriff Stevie Daniel Thomas
Sheriff Thomas began his Law Enforcement Career in 1980 with the Elberton Police Department.  Later he was affiliated with the Royston Police Department and Lavonia Police Department,  In 1986 he came to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff for Sheriff Joe Foster.  He has also served as Chief of Police for the City of Canon.  In 1983 he started working as an EMT for the Rebel CB Club which later evolved into the Franklin County EMS. At the time he left the Sheriff's Office to run for Sheriff he held the rank of Captain.

Sheriff Thomas' educational background includes Graduation for Franklin County High School in 1978, he attended Emanuel College in 1979 and 1980.  In 1981 he graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy.  His EMT training was at North Georgia Tech, where he graduated in 1983.  He has completed levels I, II, and III of Management and the Georgia Sheriff's Elect Academy.

Sheriff Thomas is a past master of Lavonia Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM, member of Peace Officer's Association of Georgia, Lavonia Royal Arch, Philemon Commandery #33, Lavonia Eastern Star, and the Georgia Jail Association. He is also a volunteer fireman for the Canon Fire Department.

He and his wife Tina and children Cruz and Desiree', are members and attend the Canon Baptist Church.
